Extra Curricular Activities
At The Wallace High School Preparatory Department there is a wide range of activities for children to participate in outside the classroom to enrich and enhance their educational experiences. As well as after-school clubs, all children also have opportunities to take part in educational visits and trips. Pupils in P6 and P7 are offered an overnight residential visit.
The children are always enthusiastic about our extra-curricular activities which include: rugby, hockey, Fundamental Movement Skills, football, netball, cricket, dodgeball,hip-hop, cross country running, cookery, athletics, choir, golf, cycling proficiency etc. There is clear value in the experiences undertaken. Music In music, the children have the opportunity to learn a variety of instruments (encouraged by performing solos, duets and ensemble pieces in concerts), sing in the choir and produce musical and dramatic performances. We have access to specialist peripatetic tutors. Each year we organise a school production. Sport A wealth of sporting activities is offered within The Wallace High School where we seek to support the development of skills, teamwork, sportsmanship and fair play. We encourage involvement with the local community and other schools both in friendly and competitive tournaments. Pupils in Pre-Prep AM, P1, P2, P3 and P4 attend SALTO whilst pupils in P4-P7 attend swimming lessons as part of their PE curriculum. Languages Pupils throughout the school have Spanish and/or French lessons as part of their curriculum. Clearly, we rely on the strengths and interests of the staff in school and the extra-curricular activities provided may differ throughout the year. |
