The Arts

Art
At Wallace Prep, Art is a valued part of our curriculum, giving pupils the space to express themselves creatively while developing important visual and fine motor skills. Inspired by the world around them, children explore a variety of techniques and materials—from drawing and painting to collage, printmaking, and sculpture. Art lessons are designed to build confidence, spark imagination, and allow each child to experience the joy of making something uniquely their own. We also love celebrating pupils’ creativity by displaying their work proudly throughout the school.
Music
Music plays a central role in life at Wallace Prep. Rooted in the Northern Ireland Curriculum, our programme introduces pupils to rhythm, pitch, and performance from an early age. Children enjoy singing, playing percussion instruments, and exploring music from different cultures and genres. Every child takes part in musical performances throughout the year—Foundation and Key Stage 1 pupils present both a Harvest celebration and a traditional Nativity, while Key Stage 2 pupils perform in our annual Carol Service and a full-scale musical production in the spring term. These events bring our school community together and help pupils develop confidence, expression, and a love of music.
Drama
Drama is woven into the curriculum as a powerful tool for building communication skills, confidence, and creativity. From role play in the early years to more structured performances in Key Stage 2, pupils are encouraged to express themselves, work collaboratively, and step into new perspectives. Each class leads a school assembly during the year, providing regular opportunities for public speaking and storytelling in a supportive environment. Major performances, including our seasonal productions and end-of-year KS2 show, are highlights of the school calendar and a true celebration of the pupils’ talent and teamwork.
